Biography

Linda already represents the residents of District 15 as their Delegate in the Maryland General Assembly. As our representative in Annapolis, Linda serves on the House Environmental & Transportation Committee. She also is a member of the Motor Vehicle and Transportation and the Agriculture and Open Spaces subcommittees. Before serving in state government, Linda was the elected District 15 representative on the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee. As MCDCC Chair, she demonstrated decisive, effective, and innovative leadership by reinventing retail politics throughout the coronavirus pandemic. She has knocked on hundreds of doors, visited with voters at every polling site, raised funds to support Get Out the Vote efforts, and has moderated numerous virtual Town Hall meetings that resulted in an unprecedented level of engagement between Montgomery County, District 15 residents and their elected representatives.

As a former journalist, Linda understands the power of elevating constituents’ stories to affect change in Annapolis. She will respond to constituents’ concerns, represent people of all ages and backgrounds, and listen to those with whom she agrees and disagrees before making decisions, skills she honed as the national president of the 34,000-member News Guild-CWA union. Linda has been active in her neighborhood, mentoring young children as a swimming coach and instructor, a lifelong passion. She has mentored many young women throughout her career, establishing a non-profit foundation to promote the work and careers of young women who pursue social justice initiatives.
